CORONAVIRUS (BRIEF HISTORY)
We all have heard, probably seen and witnessed the outbreak of a new random and life-threatening disease called the “Coronavirus“. So what is the Coronavirus? Where did it come from? How does it affect the human body? and Finally, based on this article, Can CBD Oil stop the Coronavirus?
Let’s start with a brief history of this fast-growing disease. The history of human coronaviruses began in 1965 when Tyrrell and Bynoe found that they could passage a virus named B814. It was found in human embryonic tracheal organ cultures obtained from the respiratory tract of an adult with a common cold. The presence of an infectious agent was demonstrated by inoculating the medium from these cultures intranasally in human volunteers; colds were produced in a significant proportion of subjects, but Tyrrell and Bynoe were unable to grow the agent in tissue culture at that time. At about the same time, Hamre and Procknow were able to grow a virus with unusual properties in tissue culture from samples obtained from medical students with colds.
Both B814 and Hamre’s virus, which she called 229E, were ether-sensitive and therefore presumably required a lipid-containing coat for infectivity. But these 2 viruses were not related to any known myxo- or paramyxoviruses. While working in the laboratory of Robert Chanock at the National Institutes of Health, McIntosh et al reported the recovery of multiple strains of ether-sensitive agents from the human respiratory tract by using a technique similar to that of Tyrrell and Bynoe. These viruses were termed “OC” to designate that they were grown in organ cultures.
WHAT IS COVID-19?
While the research was proceeding to explore the pathogenicity and epidemiology of the human coronaviruses, the number and importance of animal coronaviruses were growing rapidly. Coronaviruses were described that caused disease in multiple animal species, including rats, mice, chickens, turkeys, calves, dogs, cats, rabbits and pigs. During the 2002–2003 outbreak, SARS infection was reported in 29 countries in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
Overall 8098 infected individuals were identified, with 774 SARS-related fatalities. It is still unclear how the virus entered the human population and whether the Himalayan palm civets were the natural reservoir for the virus. Sequence analysis of the virus isolated from the Himalayan palm civets revealed that this virus contained a 29-nucleotide sequence not found in most human isolates, in particular those involved in the worldwide spread of the epidemic.
In the animal viruses, this nucleotide sequence maintains the integrity of the 10th open reading frame (ORF); whereas in the human strains, the absence of this motif results in 2 overlapping ORFs. The function of the ORFs in the animal and human isolates is unknown, and it is unclear whether the deletion of the 29-nucleotide sequence played a role in the transspecies jump, the capacity of the epidemic strain to spread between humans or the virulence of the virus in humans.
Curiously data from seroepidemiologic studies conducted among food market workers in areas where the SARS epidemic likely began indicated that 40% of wild animal traders and 20% of individuals who slaughter animals were seropositive for SARS, although none had a history of SARS-like symptoms. These findings suggest that these individuals were exposed through their occupation to a SARS-like virus that frequently caused an asymptomatic infection. Infection control policies may have contributed to the halt of the SARS epidemic. The last series of documented cases to date, in April 2004, was laboratory-acquired.
ABOUT AND SYMPTOMS
Coronaviruses are a group of common viruses. They are named for the crown-like spikes on the surface of the virus. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that usually cause mild to moderate upper-respiratory tract illnesses, like the common cold, in people. However, three times in the 21st-century coronavirus outbreaks have emerged from animal reservoirs to cause severe disease and global transmission concerns. There are hundreds of coronaviruses, most of which circulate among animals including pigs, camels, bats, and cats. Sometimes those viruses jump to humans—called a spillover event—and can cause disease. Seven coronaviruses are known to cause human disease, four of which are mild: viruses 229E, OC43, NL63, and HKU1.
Three of the coronaviruses can have more serious outcomes in people, and those are SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) which emerged in late 2002 and disappeared by 2004; MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome), which emerged in 2012 and remains in circulation in camels; and the 2019-nCoV, which emerged in December 2019 from China and a global effort is underway to contain its spread. Some coronaviruses only affect animals, but others can also affect humans. Most people get infected with human coronaviruses at some time in their life. This usually causes mild to moderate upper-respiratory infections, like the common cold. But they can also cause more severe illnesses such as bronchitis and pneumonia.
Research investments into the SARS and MERS outbreaks, NIAID scientists and grantees are better prepared to develop diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines against 2019-nCoV. Included in those projects are basic research to understand how the virus infects cells and causes the disease; adapting platforms used to develop diagnostic tests and vaccines, and evaluating treatments such as broad-spectrum antivirals and potentially monoclonal antibodies.
For confirmed 2019-nCoV infections, reported illnesses have ranged from people with little to no symptoms to people being severely ill and dying. Symptoms can include: Fever, Coughing and sneezing, Running nose, Sore throat, Headaches and Shortness of breath.
CBD OIL AND THE CORONAVIRUS:
Finally, we’re down to the main purpose of this article, “Can CBD Oil Stop The Coronavirus?”. To begin with, a disease outbreak is something we definitely shouldn’t play with. This is so because a viral disease like this can gradually grow from being Epidemic to Pandemic (similar to the Ebola Virus).
We have received a few tips on how to prevent the Coronavirus until its cure has been found. These include washing of hands, avoid hand contact with the face after a series of events, stay at home if infected, calling 911 or Health service as soon as symptoms are seen, etc. These tips are very helpful but on the other hand very slow to eradicate the disease. We suggest and think more emphasis should be laid on tackling the symptoms of The Coronavirus. If we try to fight each symptom related to the virus individually, we can therefore completely eradicate this life-threatening disease. As mentioned in some paragraphs above, some symptoms include Fever, Coughing and sneezing, Running nose, Sore throat, Headaches and Shortness of breath.
Cannabis, a natural Herb alongside its extracts has extremely great and renowned health benefits in the field of medicine. In fact, this plant has saved so many lives in our community today, ranging from cases with Cancer, Arthritis, Bronchitis, Insomnia, and many more. An extract of this plant, CBD Oil, functions very effectively in this role. Focusing on the symptoms of this disease, let’s see how CBD Oil can stop them:
Virus-infected coughing and CBD Oil;
A cough can be super annoying, especially when it won’t go away. If you have a chronic cough, you might try cannabidiol (CBD) oil to help you get relief. CBD can reduce inflammation in your respiratory system, so it may help you breathe easier. Additionally, it might relax your muscles, which can help you stop coughing, and may help you fall asleep easier. If you want to use CBD oil to treat your cough, choose your preferred delivery method to administer it. Additionally, incorporate other natural treatments for the cough to increase the effectiveness of the CBD. However, check with your doctor first and get a proper diagnosis before treating yourself.
Virus-infected shortness of breath and CBD Oil;
Shortness of breath can be caused by the growth of tumors in the lungs. It has been described that CBD can act on tumor cells, directly or indirectly, through different pathways and that these effects might vary in different tumor cells. CBD acts as an inverse agonist for the CB2 receptor and an antagonist for the CB1 receptor.12 However, CBD has a low affinity to either CB1 or CB2 receptors. In addition, CBD has anti-cancer effects acting as an agonist for the transient receptor potential vanilloid (TRPV) 1 and 2 leading to changes in intracellular Ca2+ levels.
It is also reported that CBD can induce apoptosis in cancer cells via the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), caspase activation and activation of p53 dependent apoptotic pathways in cancer cells and down-regulation of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and cyclin D1. CBD can also upregulate TNF/TNFR1 and TRAIL/TRAIL-R2 signaling by modulation of both ligand and receptor levels followed by apoptosis. Furthermore, CBD inhibits human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) endothelial cells migration, invasion and sprouting in vitro, and angiogenesis in vivo through down-modulation of several angiogenesis-related molecules.
Virus-infected migraines (headaches) and CBD Oil;
People used cannabis for thousands of years to treat headaches before it became illegal. There is evidence that CBD oil can reduce inflammation and pain in arthritis. It may work similarly with migraines. Results of a 2016 study indicate that medical marijuana may reduce the frequency of migraine headaches. This research was not specific to CBD oil. More research is needed to determine what dosage and formulation are most effective.
With all the health benefits of CBD Oil and the plant as a whole, as seen above and from research, we can conclude that The Cannabis Plant is one of the existing Natural and Hidden cure which might help eradicate the Coronavirus. Remember, Cannabis is NOT the cure for this virus, this article only shows that the Cannabis Plant might be of help.
So, where can we find this CBD Oil and give it a try?
